Winter is the busiest and most difficult time of year for health services in north east London. Every year the cold weather means more illness and greater pressure on A&Es in particular, which can sometimes struggle to cope.
It is at this time of year that we really need feedback from people on how they use local services and ideas for how we make sure that people know where is best for them to go for treatment when they need it.
You can help this winter by signing up to The East London Health and Care Partnership citizens’ panel and answering a few short questions. Anyone over the age of 16 who lives in north east London can register. It is easy to do and simply consists of short online surveys that can be done on the sofa or on the commute.
A&Es treat people who need life-saving, emergency care and A&Es across north east London currently see around 100 people every hour. However many of those people don’t have a life-threatening illness or injury and this increases during winter. It is more appropriate for many people to be treated by different urgent care services like urgent treatment centres, out of hours GPs, walk-in centres, and same day GP appointments.
Feedback we receive through the citizens’ panel will help us communicate this. By helping this winter by signing up to the panel and telling us your views, you will also get updates on the results of your involvement and how your feedback has been used. You don’t need to be an expert but by taking part you are not only getting your voice heard, you’re also giving back to the NHS and others in your community.
