Important reminder: Courtland Surgery patients should register with a new GP practice by 20 January 2018

07 December 2017

A reminder that the Courtland Surgery in Ilford will be closing on 20 January 2018 due to the retirement of Dr. Babbar. As Dr Babbar owns the surgery building it will no longer be possible to run a GP practice from the premises. Unfortunately no other suitable premises are available in the area, so the practice will be closing.

If you are a patient at the Courtland Surgery and have not yet registered with a new GP practice, it is important that you do so without delay. Remember that the Christmas period will impact on the time available to re-register.

There are five GP practices within one mile of Courtland Surgery, all of which are accepting new patients. You should register with one of these practices as soon as possible. If you don’t re-register with a new practice before 20 January, you will no longer have access to a GP.

All patients registered at the surgery have been informed of the decision via a letter (and those patients who have yet to re-register have been sent a reminder), which contains the contact details of these practices. You should register with one of these practices as soon as possible.

How to register with a different GP practice

  1. Go online. Visit NHS Choices website at enter your postcode to find out more about the practices near you, and how to register
  2. Contact one of the practices listed on the back of this letter
  3. Speak to reception staff at Courtland Surgery for advice

Staff at your chosen GP practice will confirm whether you are in their catchment area and help you to register. Once you are registered with a new practice your medical records will transfer automatically.
